WILLIAM EVANS

Wm. Evans

One of the youngest, if not the youngest veteran of the Civil war, died at the Soldiers’ Home in Quincy Monday, aged 70. He was Wm. Evans and enlisted in the Union army at the age of 12 as a drummer, becoming a member of Company D, Eleventh United States infantry.
