Elizabeth Easley

IPAVA — Elizabeth Easley was the daughter of those sturdy pioneers of Ipava, John and Nancy (Kinsey) Easley, and was born in Ipava on Dec. 19, 1838. She passed away in a hospital in Council Bluffs, Ia., Feb. 15, at 3 o’clock from burns received at 11 o’clock that morning. Miss Easley was trying to thaw out a frozen pipe with a gasoline lamp when the lamp exploded, enveloping her in flames. The body was brot to the home of her niece, Mrs. C. S. Randolph, which was the old family home of the Easley’s, on the noon train Tuesday where funeral services were conducted by Rev. N. Dalenberg at 3 o’clock. She was laid to rest in the old cemetery southwest of the village beside her parents. Of a family of eleven children there are now only three left to mourn the death of their beloved sister. They are: Mrs. Phebe FitzHenry of Peoria; John R. Easley of Florida; and Mrs. Lou Graham of Council Bluffs, Ia. Mrs. FitzHenry and son, Rev. Chas. FitzHenry, of Peoria, attended the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Graham accompanied the body to Ipava.
