Wilma DavisWilma A. Davis, 94, of Rushville died at 4:50 a.m. April 11, 2020, at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 10, 1925, in Rushville, a daughter of Everette Orvil and Jessie Almira Hood Ward. She married James T. “Moe” Davis on May 29, 1943, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2003.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Edward Charles “Chuck” Davis; four brothers, Robert Ward, Kenneth Ward, Edward Ward and Albert Ward; and one sister, Margie Littman.

Surviving are two sons, James L. Davis of Quincy and Dale E. (and Patty) Davis of Rushville; one daughter, Nancy Rice of Rushville; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She cleaned houses in Rushville and later worked at the family business, Davis IGA Grocery, with her husband. After the business was sold, she worked for the new owners at Flynn’s Red Fox and then Rushville Foods until she retired. A lifelong homemaker, she cared for her mother Jessie for many years until she moved to the nursing home.

She was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church.

Due to the current health situation and directives from the State of Illinois and the CDC, private family graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the family lot in the Rushville City Cemetery with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no formal visitation. Family and friends are welcome to view the services on the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville website or Facebook on Wednesday morning.

Memorials may be made to her church, Schuyler County Humane Society or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
