Harry Darst

Harry Vern Darst, 90, of Macomb died at 9:25 p.m. Oct. 12, 2019, at The Elms Nursing Facility in Macomb.

He was born May 31, 1929, in Marietta, a son of William and Minnie McGrew Darst. He married Molly E. Sprinkle on April 9, 1953, in Camden. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2013.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Lyle and Keith Darst.

Surviving are one sister, Grace Sprinkle of Macomb; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. in 1948 and was a veteran of the Inchon-Wonsan-Hungham-Chosin Campaigns. He was discharged in 1952 with the rank of Sergeant. He worked for Caterpillar, Inc., Haeger Pottery and Cooper Industries before retiring. He was a member of Fandon Christian Church.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Industry Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Spain officiating. Military honors will be conducted by a U.S. Marine Corps honors detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville.
