Roberta DeWittRoberta K. DeWitt, 98, of Rushville died at 1:45 a.m. Nov. 5, 2016, at the Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester.

She was born Oct. 27, 1918, in Rushville Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of John and Nettie Warrington Kerr. She married Paul E. DeWitt on June 7, 1943, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2004.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Amy Sapp.

Surviving are one daughter, Frannie Shelton-Tice of Foley, Ala.; one nephew; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.

She received her bachelors and masters degrees in Education from Western Illinois University in Macomb. She was a lifelong Schuyler County school teacher until retiring.

She was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church; Delta Kappa Gama Educators Society; Schuyler-Brown Retired Teachers Association; and the Schuyler Senior Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Rushville City Cemetery. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
