Charles DeCroixCharles J. DeCroix, 70, of Rushville died at 10:40 p.m. Dec. 18, 2015, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born June 17, 1945, in Springfield, the son of Charles A. and Helen Skoda DeCroix. He married Sylvia Schoonover Baker on May 27, 2005, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are four children with his marriage to Beverly Smith: Andrea (and Mark) Damery of Blue Mound, Chuck (and Wendy) DeCroix of Smiths Grove, Ky., Michelle (and Matt) Rousey of Williamsville and Gina (and Patrick) DeCroix Russell of Springfield; two stepdaughters, Kelly (and Mike) Hills of Mattoon and Jenny Farris (and friend Ron) of Clay City; two sisters, Patricia (and Gale) Cox of Springfield and Carol (and Gene) Burnett of Columbia, Ill.; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Griffin High School in 1963. He served a four-year apprenticeship with IBEW Local #193, where he worked as a journeyman electrician for various companies and the State of Illinois, retiring in 2007.

He was a 50-year member of IBEW Local 193, a member of Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007 and the Rushville Moose Lodge #506, where he held several offices. He twice received service awards for saving people from electrical accidents.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Chuck DeCroix officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
