Donald DerryDonald D. Derry, 73, of Ipava died at 1 a.m. Nov. 12, 2015, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

He was born May 6, 1942, in Pekin, the son of Donald D. and Peggy L. Beadles Derry. He married Carole Connell on July 6, 1963, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Doug (and Kari Overcash) Derry of Ipava; one daughter, Stacy (and Victor) Dorethy of Ipava; two sisters, Carol Harland of Ipava and Vicki Shannon of Marietta; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He graduated from VIT High School in 1960. He worked for Caterpillar following graduation and later worked for Tingley Products in Ipava. He also worked for Ken-Ray Foundry in Vermont and as a driller for the coal mine in Canton. He then farmed in the Ipava and Havana area.

He was an Army veteran.

He was a member of Ipava American Legion and Ipava Christian Church. He helped develop the Ipava Ball Park.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Doug Krukewitt officiating. Cremation rites were accorded.

Memorials may be made to the Ipava American Legion or the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in Peoria.
