Marjorie DeakinMarjorie J. Deakin, 93, of Cuba died at 7:20 a.m. Oct. 12, 2015, at Clayberg Fulton County Nursing Center.

She was born June 26, 1922, in Bernadotte Township, a daughter of William and Loreine McCaughey Hamm. She married Alan L. Deakin on Aug. 14, 1941, in Bowling Green, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1994.

Also preceding her in death were four brothers, three sisters and one step grandson.

Surviving are three children, Reita (and David) Harn of Lewistown, Garrett (and Kathy) Deakin of Springfield and Greg (and Debora) Deakin of Cuba; six grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker.

She was a 60-year member of Cuba United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 50 years. Other memberships include Order of Eastern Star, Jobs Daughters, Cuba Senior Women’s Club, Royal Neighbors and the Friendly Neighbors Club.

She also was a former 4-H leader and served on the board of directors for the Community Concert Association.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cuba United Methodist Church with Reverend Kenneth Harris officiating. Burial will be at Cuba Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the church. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba is in charge of arrangements.
