LaVerne Danner

LaVerne J. Danner, 75, of Peoria, died Nov. 1, 2012, in Peoria.

He was born April 15, 1937, in Table Grove, a son of Earnest and Letha Lauffrey Danner. He married Mary L. Simmons on May 23, 1958. She preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 2006.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Lester and Delbert Danner.

Surviving are two daughters, Charli (and Jake) Schisler of Alva, Fla., and Tracey L. Danner of Peoria; one son, Anthony Danner of Peoria; one stepson, David (and Susan) Fulton of Muscatine, Iowa; one sister, Ollidean Danner of Napa Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

He helped on the family farm and worked as a farmer for many years while also working as a welder at Caterpillar. He retired from Caterpillar in 2000.

He developed a strong interest in genealogy and research of his family line helped him to discover his roots as a 7th generation direct descendant of Michael and Anna (Bend) Danner, who came to the New World aboard the James Goodwill vessel, arriving in Philadelphia on Sept. 27, 1727.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, in South Fulton Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

LaVerne Danner

LaVerne J. Danner, 75, of Peoria died at 8:07 a.m. Nov. 1, 2012, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Peoria.

He was born April 15, 1937, in Table Grove, a son of Ernest and Lethia Danner. He married Mary Lou Simmons on May 23, 1958, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 2006.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester "Jr.", Delbert and Raymond Danner.

Surviving are two sons, David (and Susan) Fulton and Anthony J. Danner, both of Peoria; two daughters, "Charli" (and Kenneth) Schisler of North Ft. Myers, Fla., and Tracey Danner of Peoria; one sister, Ollidean (and Vincent) Pacheco of Naper Valley, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

He was a welder at Caterpillar in East Peoria and a farmer.

He was a member of UAW Local #974 in East Peoria.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be held at a later date. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
