She was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann Bradshaw Russell. She married Ira Dotson Jr. on Nov. 30, 1973, in Jacksonville. He preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2009.
Surviving are one son, Dustin (and Laura) Dotson of Quincy; one daughter, Amanda (and Greg) Runkle of Littleton; and four grandchildren.
A 1965 graduate of Smiley High School in Houston, Texas, Karen first worked at Capitol Records, Bound to Stay Bound Books and TG&Y in Jacksonville. Following her marriage, she stayed at home to raise her children. She later owned KD Gifts in Littleton for over 20 years specializing in ceramics. She later worked for Eagle Communications in Rushville.
Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Pastor Larry Lindow officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
