RONALD E. “LEFTY” DeMOSS

Ronald DeMossRonald E. "Lefty" DeMoss, 77, of Rushville, died at 4:50 p.m. Aug. 3, 2011, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Macomb.

He was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Schuyler County, a son of Clarence and Pearl Lindsey DeMoss.

Surviving are two daughters, Mindy (and Brian) Newell of Rushville and Amy (and Ryan) Zillion of Beardstown; two stepsons, Mitch DeMoss and Mike DeMoss, both of Rushville; two sisters, Mildred (and Merle) Terry of Brooklyn and Barbara Billups of Henderson; two brothers, Edwin (and Roberta) DeMoss of Plano, Texas, and Dennis (and Rose) DeMoss of Missoula, Mont.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Nathan Cooper.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict.

He first worked as the sexton of Rushville City Cemetery. He then worked for Bartlow Brothers in Rushville, Oscar-Mayer in Beardstown, Scott Hester Construction and as a bartender at Rick and Rich's Tap in Rushville.

Graveside services were held at Rushville City Cemetery with Rob Laning officiating. Cremation was accorded. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
