June Danner

June E. Danner, 86, of Galesburg died at 11 a.m. Feb. 27, 2010, at Rosewood Care Center.

She was born April 14, 1923, in Monmouth, a daughter of Percy S. and Pearl Norris Lipes. She married Wilfred Wayne Danner on Oct. 29, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1993.

Surviving are one son, Gregory Wayne Danner of Eagle Point, Ore.; two daughters, Gloria June (and Brad) Ator of Farmington, Utah, and Kara Beth Johnston of Wataga; one brother, David Lipes of the Quad Cities; one sister, Mary Arthur of Colorado; eight grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She worked at many restaurants in Monmouth and dress shops in Galesburg for 20 years, retiring in 1982. She also cared for children. During World War II, she worked at Rock Island Arsenal.

She was a member of Emmanuel Methodist Church in Galesburg where she was active on the nominating committee and choirs. She was a volunteer for American Red Cross and a member of United Methodist Women.

She was a 1939 graduate of Monmouth High School.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Astoria.

Memorials may be made to her church or American Red Cross.
