Gloria DaceGloria J. Dace, 76, of Rushville died at 1:50 a.m. March 11, 2009, at her home.

She was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Ridgely, Tenn., the daughter of Archie M. and Cornelia S. Wood Green. She married Charles V. Dace on June 20, 1954, in Camden. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Lisa (and Bill) Edwards of Oakwood Hills; one son, Chris (and Linda) Dace of Macomb; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Green.

She graduated from Rushville High School in 1951. Following graduation, she worked at the Schuyler Telephone Office from 1951 to 1953. She attended Western Illinois University for one year and then taught school at Camden Grade School for three years. She resumed her education at Western in 1967, and graduated in December of 1971 with a bachelor of science in education degree. She taught third grade at Webster School in Rushville from 1971 to 1988 when she retired.

She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville and was instrumental in starting the live nativity at the church in 2002. She was a seamstress.

Services were held Saturday at her church with Rev. John Sowers officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to her church for the nativity shelter or to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
