Edward M. Dilts, 46, of South Toledo, Ohio, died Nov. 28, 2007, in Farmingdale, La., as a result of a plane crash.
He was born Feb. 8, 1961, in Canton. He married Pam Weideman on Oct. 28, 2006. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Helen Johnson, Springfield, Tenn.; his father, Charles (and Virginia) Dilts, Ridge Manor, Fla.; one sister, Patricia (and Chansy) Delp, Oceanside, Calif.; one brother, Charles (and Julie) Dilts, Escondido, Calif.; grandmother, Catherine Dilts, Farmington; and special friends Jay Hovis and Dean Gnepper.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ed (and Esther) Wheeler; and paternal grandfather, Charles “Emery” Dilts Jr.
He attended school in Cuba and Springfield, Tenn., and graduated from Nashville Tech with a degree in civil engineering.
He held a Commercial Pilot License and also was a flight instructor. He was employed by Brentco Aerial Patrol in Durango, Colo., as a pilot patrolling oil and gas pipe lines. Prior to that, he was employed by Hart, Freeland and Roberts in Nashville, Tenn., as a civil engineer and a senior project manager at SSOE in Nashville and Toledo.
He was a past master of the Western Star Lodge #9 F & AM, Springfield, Tenn.; Scottish Rite Bodies, Nashville, Tenn.; EAA Chapter 582 based out of Metcalf Airport; and a member of AOPA.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the mortuary. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Ohio. An additional visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba. Graveside service will follow at 1:20 p.m. at Fiatt Cemetery with Rev. Jim Menne officiating.
