Frances DeWittFrances Kathryn DeWitt, 98, of Rushville died at 2:50 a.m. Aug. 29, 2007, at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

She was born Aug. 7, 1909, in Rushville, a daughter of Walter and Hattie Luvall Long. She married Ivan DeWitt on Aug. 14, 1935, in Denver, Co. He died May 16, 1999.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Jr. and John C. Long; and one infant sister, Margaret.

Surviving are one sister-in-law, Roberta DeWitt of Rushville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rushville and Mary Martha Circle of the church and was a 50-year member of Evening Star Chapter #46, Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine in Canton and Schuyler Senior Center.

She was a retail clerk and cashier for J.C. Penney in Rushville, Deville Brothers and Jack & Jill Clothing Stores in Canton, and Jones Jewelry in Rushville, retiring in 1970.

Services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Arnold officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg.
