George W. Duff, 81, of Rushville died at 9:12 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, at Sara Bush Lincoln Health Center in LaFayette Township.

He was born Sept. 28, 1920, in Havana, a son of John T. and Anna Heffern Duff. He married Lena Belle Smith on Nov. 18, 1962, in Rushville. She died May 5, 1993.

Surviving are one stepson, Larry Moses of Rushville; one stepdaughter, Sharon (and Curt) Farwell of Havana; one sister, Betty Busby of Nokomis; one brother, James (and Billie) of Houston; a special friend, Patsy Stewart of Rushville, with whom he made his home; two stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

A member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6408 in Havana, he was a World War II Marine Corps veteran, serving with the 571st Platoon.

He was an electrician, working out of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Collinsville for 35 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Rushville Moose Lodge 506.

Graveside services were held Sunday at Summum Cemetery in Summum with Rev. Cliff Parry officiating. Military rites were accorded. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his Moose lodge.
