James M. Dean, 59, of rural Colchester died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Jan. 11, 1942, in Macomb, a son of Merle R. and Wilma E. Flynn Dean. He married Karen Wetzel on Oct. 18, 1969, in Colchester. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Mike (and Jennifer) of Colchester; two grandchildren; one sister, Donna (and Nelson) Snowden of Vermont; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents and one brother preceded him in death.

He retired in 1997 as plant supervisor at McDonough Telephone Co.

He was a member of Macomb National Guard Army Battalion B.

He was a member of Littleton Methodist Church and the National Rifle Association.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dunkerd Cemetery in Bethel Township. Rev. Ron Green will officiate. Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at Jones Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to Colchester Fire Dept. Rescue Camera Fund or McDonough District Hospital ICU Staff.
