Warren M. Davis, 86, of Peoria, died at 7:53 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Rosewood Care Center of Peoria.
He was born July 14, 1913, in Kansas City, Mo., a son of Jesse Winfield "Wyn" and Gertrude L. Warren Davis. He married Jennie M. Krempp Hooste on Feb. 4, 1953, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Sharilyn K. "Sherry" (and M. Frank) Avila of Chicago and Jeralyn Joan (and Jim) Saeger of Peoria; one stepson, Gary E. (and Carol) Hooste of Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Oliver Winfield Davis, and his stepmother, Mildred Alice (Heflin) Davis, who was born and is buried in Vermont.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1940 to 1945.
He worked as a chef at several restaurants in Peoria and the surrounding areas. He also worked for Caterpillar, Inc. and retired in 1977.
Services were held Jan. 19, 2000, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with Gary E. Hooste, stepson, and David A. Hooste, stepgrandson, officiating. Burial was in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria with military rites by VFW Post #979 of Limestone. The US flag was presented to his wife.
