Robert Derry, 74, of Fairfield Bay, Ark., formerly of Bartonville, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at his home.

He was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Schuyler County, a son of Lawrence and Florence Derry. He married Edna M. Miller Smith on Sept. 3, 1983, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Sharon Steenrod of Bartonville, Roberta Harding of Pekin and Debra Anderson of Calvery City, Ky.; one stepson, Warren Null of Washington, Ill.; five stepchildren; 25 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, John Derry of Wataga; and one sister, Rosalee Schnarr of Lewistown.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie, and his second wife, Maxine.

A resident of Fairfield Bay for 13-1/2 years, he retired from Halls Trucking Company in Peoria. A World War II Army Air Force veteran, he was a member of the American Legion Post 2 and 40 et 8. He was also a member of Evening Optimist Club in Peoria. He was a member of the Catholic church.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 8, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Bay. Olmstead Funeral Home of Herber Springs, Ark., was in charge of arrangements. Local memorial services were held Friday, Nov. 28, in the chapel of Swan Lake Gardens in Peoria with Rev. Richard Horvath officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.
