Moneta DeWitt

Moneta L. DeWitt, 70, of Timewell, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 1997, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

She was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Adams County, a daughter of Jessie and Iva Alcorn Roberts. She married Joe B. DeWitt on Aug. 18, 1945. He died Jan. 26, 1978. One brother also preceded her in death.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Russell (Carol) White of Browning, Mrs. Art (Mildred) Derry of Augusta, Mrs. Mitch (Joyce) Michaud of Stafford, Va., and Mrs. Patrick (Lilly) Ellison of Hamilton; two sons, Vernon DeWitt of Timewell and Richard DeWitt of New Baden; two brothers, Donald Roberts of Clayton and Earl Roberts of Quincy; two sister, Peggy Hess of Clayton and Marjorie Knight of Augusta; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker and her hobbies were crocheting and crafts.

Services were held Saturday at Hufnagel Funeral Home in Mount Sterling with Rev. Billy Bob Howard officiating. Burial was in Mount Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
