Wayne Derry

Wayne L. Derry, 84, of Yates City, died at 8:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at his home.

He was born Oct. 19, 1912, in Browning, a son of Peter and Myrtle Callihan Derry. He married Hazel Irene Hedden on Dec. 12, 1937, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two brothers, Verne Derry of Knoxville and Cecil L. Derry of Port Richey, Fla.; and one sister, Lorraine Wells of Douglas.

One brother preceded him in death.

A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of Farmington American Legion Post 140. He was a welder at Caterpillar Inc. at Building LL in East Peoria for 40 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Yates City Masonic Lodge 448.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Anderson Funeral Home in Farmington, where Masonic services will precede. Rev. Glen E. Edenburn will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Farmington.
