VeteranJackson Daugherty Dies In Accident

Jackson L. Daugherty, 35, of Mason City, was killed in a car-semitrailer truck collision on Monday afternoon, Feb. 25, 1980, near the Pekin Airport.

He was born Nov. 9, 1944, in Clinton, a son of Ravon and Doris Thompson Daugherty. He married Marcellen Lalicker, Feb. 26, 1964 at Woodbridge, Va. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Douglas, at home; his father, his foster mother, Deloris McMahon, a brother, Daniel, all of Bloomington; four sisters, Darlene Howard of Kappa, Judy Johnson and Jill Charron, both of Lincoln, and Diane Goultney of Clinton; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Daugherty, maternal grandmother, Goldie Thompson, and a grandmother, Alice Hughes, all of Bloomington.

He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of Mason City United Methodist Church.

Mr. Daugherty was employed at Keystone. He was a pack cubmaster in Mason City and was chairman of Mason City Community Chest.

He was a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Lalicker of Adair.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, at Cain Funeral Home with Rev. John Atkins and Mark Kim officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Waynesville.
