Katharine Dobbins

IPAVA — Funeral services for Mrs. Katharine H. Dobbins were held Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 30 in Cambridge, Ill., in the Gustafon Chapel, the Rev. A. O. Jones, pastor of the Cambridge Methodist church, officiating. Burial was at Sidney, Iowa, Thursday, Oct. 31.

Mrs. Dobbins died Oct. 29, following a three weeks illness. She was born in Brown county, W. Va., Feb. 26, 1848, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Lindsey. She came to Illinois with her parents when six years old and settled on a farm where Benj. Brock owned north of Ipava. She was married to J. Calvin Dobbins, a Civil war veteran on Nov. 13, 1867. They resided in Creston, Iowa a number of years. Mr. Dobbins died in 1925. Mrs. Dobbins has since been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Earl Russell. She was a member of the Congregational church of Creston.

Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Russell, a son, F. E. Dobbins of Los Angeles, two granddaughters and a great-grandchild. Three years ago she visited in the home of the Misses Susanna and Katharine Woods and at the farm near Ipava where she resided, but she lived in a log house then and she found many changes had taken place.
