Sister Dies

Mary Elizabeth Demy, second child of John C. and Mary Sellers Demy, was born July 3, 1858, near Harrisburg, in Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania, passed away Sept. 6, 1930.

In early womanhood she united with the Church of the Brethren. Her great interest in life was in church activities. For many years she was a Sunday School teacher. In the early nineties she was matron and instructor in sewing at McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas, where she made many warm friends. She was very interested in the child life of her nieces and nephews. It was a great comfort to her to care for her parents in their declining years.

The deceased leaves five sisters, Mrs. Emma Landis, Burlington, Kansas; Mrs. Alice Koutz, Longmont, Colo.; Mrs. Ella McLaren, Farmington, Ill.; Mrs. Amanda Burgard, Mrs. Dilla Blemler and two brothers, J. L. Demy of Bader, and H. C. Demy of Astoria.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at South Fulton church, conducted by Rev. Emmit Eshelman and Rev. Braun. Burial in nearby cemetery.
