SARAH M. (TURNER) DARLING

Sarah Darling

Sarah M. Turner was born May 13, 1846, near Astoria, Illinois. In 1865 she was married to Johnathan Darling. To this union were born thirteen children, eight boys and five girls, eight of whom are still living, who with her companion and a host of friends mourn the loss of a helpmeet, a mother, and one who was a friend indeed.

In her girlhood she was converted, but in moving away from church privileges her church membership was lost. Later, in January, 1893, she was received into the M. E. church, of Astoria, on probation, and into full connection in August of the same year. During this period of her life she was faithful to many of the church duties, and many times during her last sickness expressed a regret that she had not done more for her Master. After several days of severe suffering she passed to her reward Dec. 8. The funeral services were conducted by the pastor, S. N. Wakefield, at the M. E. church on Wednesday. Rev. D. E. Baer of the U. B. church, assisted in the services. Interment was at the Union Chapel cemetery. Her life was spent for others.
