JESSE DANNER

Jesse Danner

SUMMUM — Grandpa Jesse Danner died at his home in Summum Nov. 16th, ’93, aged 82 years. He was born in York Co., Penn., in the year 1812 and was twice married. He leaves his aged and faithful wife and eight living children, all of whom are well and favorably known. He moved from his far off home in Penn. to Fulton county in a two-horse wagon in the year 1850; was six weeks on the road and passed through Grand Prairie when but one house marred the virgin sheet of that vast and fertile tract. He settled near Astoria and reduced his forest farm to a beautiful, even luxurious, home. Later he bought the Chas. Chaddock farm near Summum, where he passed from an active life to a quiet and peaceful rest. He was one of seven who founded the first German Baptist, or Dunkard as is commonly known, church in which faith he preached for some 37 years, living consistently and honestly. He was, and is remembered, as a good, kind, gentle, generous man.
