Richard “Dick” Chockley

Dick ChockleyRichard H. “Dick” Chockley, 85, of Rushville died at 8:41 p.m. Dec. 21, 2020, at the Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rushville.

He was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Schuyler County, the son of Herman and Iva Prunty Chockley. He married Sandra Sipes on June 29, 1957, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2018.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Carole Shaw and Doris Dewitt.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna (and Phillip) Slaton of Galesburg and Barb (and Douglas) Slaton of Knoxville; one son, Rod Chockley (and Debbie Lindsey) of Rushville; one sister, Linda (and Ken) Tankersley of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A 1953 graduate of Rushville High School, he was a printer and typesetter for the Rushville Times in Rushville, retiring after over 40 years of service.

He was a member of Rushville Assembly of God Church.

Graveside services were held Saturday at the Rushville City Cemetery with Pastor Terry Lucas officiating. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rushville.
