Frances CoxFrances “Francie” Marie Burton Cox, 85, died April 9, 2020, at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.

She was born Oct. 25, 1934, the daughter of Alva and Bertha Blair Burton. She married Marcus Cox on Aug. 10, 1957, in Cuba. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Cindy (and Bob) Wright and Lori (and Jim) Eddy; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Randy; and one brother, Don Burton.

She grew up on a farm west of Cuba and attended country school through eighth grade. She graduated from Cuba High School in 1951 and worked as a bookkeeper at Nimmo’s Ford Garage in Cuba until 1958. She was a homemaker, and later worked part-time at Spoon River Library.

She was a member of Smithfield Church of the Nazarene. She taught Sunday school for many years.

A private graveside service will be held at Cuba Cemetery with Reverend Dean Potts officiating. A public celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Smithfield Church of the Nazarene for youth church camp scholarships, Spoon River Library and Clayberg Nursing Home Activity Fund.
