He was born Oct. 23, 1963, in Lawton, Okla., a son of Rex Gilbert and Bonnie Lucille Vaughn Chance Sr. He married Nancy Steele Lawhorn on May 7, 2018, in McDonough County. She survives.
Also surviving are five children, Shalee Chance of Kansas, John Chance of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Shayla Lawhorn of Mattoon, Tyler Lawhorn of Humboldt and Britlynn Lawhorn of Industry; five sisters, Cheryl (and Danny) Riley of Tyler, Texas, Renee D’Ambrosi of Amarillo, Texas, Brenda Frost of Arkansas and Linda Sue (and David) Chandler and Donna Santos, both of Wichita Falls, Texas; two brothers, Mike (and Michelle) Chance of Littleton and Wendell Chance of Salisbury, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Dean Rose; one sister, Heidi Carlson; and one brother, Gary Morris.
He worked as a jack of all trades, including being a mechanic, carpenter and over-the-road truck driver.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
