Huey CainHuey A. Cain, 74, of Rushville died at 10:20 a.m. April 15, 2018, at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mount Sterling.

He was born June 19, 1943, in Carmi, a son of Andrew James “Andy” and Berniece Huffstuttler Cain. He married Linda Leach on Dec. 9, 1973, in Springfield.

Surviving are his former wife, Linda Cain of Plymouth, his stepmother, Ruth Cain of Gladewater, Texas; five children, Andrea (and Mark) Lawrence of Nashville, Tenn., Candy Guinn of Carmi, Tommie (and Angie) Cain, Leslie (and fiancée Ryan Kerr) Crum and Beverly (and fiancée Tony Allen) Crenshaw, all of Rushville; four siblings, Candace Cain of Ft. Collins, Colo., Debbie (and Frank) Burnett of Carmi, Charles T. (and Pam) Cain of Melbourne, Fla., and Julie (and Darrell Miller) Cain of Longview, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Pamela Sue Cain; and stepfather, Fred Baldwin.

He graduated in 1962 from Carmi High School. He then attended Hobart Welding School in Troy, Ohio, and Rend Lake Junior College in Ina.

He worked as a welder for Trinity Steel in Beardstown, Capitol Machinery in Springfield, Inland Steel in McLeansboro and Lindsey’s Outdoor USA in Carmi. He then taught asbestos and lead removal at trade schools in St. Louis. His last job was as a truck driver for Hood Transportation in Rushville, Clinard Trucking in Mount Sterling and Black Transportation in Beardstown.

He was a member of the Rushville Moose Lodge #506 and the Illinois River ABATE.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with his brother Charles T. Cain officiating. Burial will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
