Nicky CassadyNicky J. Cassady, 74, of Rushville died at 8:30 a.m. June 15, 2016, at her home.

She was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Beardstown, a daughter of Harold and Margaret Neal Lee. She first married Joe Ashcraft in 1963, in Rushville. She later married Jim Cassady on Oct. 12, 1998, in Hawaii. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Tricia Lee (and Gregory) Broughton of Chatham; one stepson, Andy Cassady of Macomb; one sister, Ramona (and Andrew) Martin of Illiopolis; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Dick Lee; and one sister, Jean Williams.

A 1960 graduate of Rushville High School, she attended two years at Brown Business College.

She first worked for the Secretary of State Office in Springfield. She later worked at Bill Murray Associates in Springfield. She spent her career with Hanson Engineers, Inc. in Springfield, where she worked for 30 years. While there, she was office manager in the Airport Section and administrative assistant to the Vice President.

She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville and of PEO Chapter AL. She was one of original key organizers of People Loving Active Youth and was active in its fundraising. She also was a member of the Schuyler Arts Council; the Schuyler Food Basket; Scripps Park Board and was vital to the revitalization of the cottages. She was active in Big Brothers/Big Sisters for over 10 years.

Graveside services were held Saturday at the Rushville City Cemetery with Reverend Carl Wiggins officiating. Burial followed. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
