He was born April 14, 1960, in Canton, a son of Noel N. and Sue Anderson Clarke Jr. He married Linda Diane Washburn on Aug. 5, 2006, at their home in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother and stepfather, Sue and Gerry Braner of Beardstown; one stepdaughter, Jennifer (and Jim) Hendrix of Clinton, Ind.; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Barry Clarke.
He was a 1978 graduate of Beardstown High School and received an associates degree in agriculture and business management from Lincoln Land College in Springfield in 1990.
While in high school, he began working for Schmidt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown as a groundskeeper for 10 years. He then worked as deckhand for Nilo Barge Lines and Spartan Transportation. His 20-year career with ADM Grain began with an internship at Naples and then continued at the Beardstown and Havana locations before being transferred back to Naples where he spent 13 years. He then worked at the Frederick location, where he was superintendent and manager, retiring in May 2012.
Services were held Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend Rob Kirkham officiating. Cremation was accorded.
