Darlene CaputoDarlene E. Caputo, 84, of Rushville died at 8:10 p.m. Oct. 4, 2011, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

She was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Camden Township, Schuyler County, the daughter of Gonnie Odell and Mary Ellen Jones Owen. She married Robert Joseph Caputo of Utica, N.Y., in Washington D.C. on Nov. 25, 1943. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1986.

She also was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Richard Robinson; and one brother, Odell J. Owens.

Surviving are three sons, Odell Joseph (and Debra) Caputo of Jemison, Ala., Robert Gene (and Amanda) Caputo and Michael Anthony (and Judy) Caputo, both of Rushville; two daughters, Lin (and Jimmie) Caputo Fulton of Alabaster, Ala., and Sheila Ann Robinson of Rushville; one foster son, Harry "Sonny" (and Phyllis) Blurton of Edwardsville; 10 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.

For over 20 years, she was a homemaker and mother of five children. She first worked part time as a clerk at Simpson's Cleaners, then full time as cashier at Rushville Super Valu Store and the A& P Store, quitting to care for her parents until their deaths in 1976 and 1981.

She was a member of Illinois Women Bowling Association for 30 years. She served as the secretary of the league. She also had pen pals in several states, Canada and Switzerland.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Private graveside services will be held at Rushville City Cemetery. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
