Virginia Combs, 89, of Rushville died at 6 p.m. Sept. 26, 2010, in Seaside, Calif.
She was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Adams County, the daughter of Arlie H. and Mabel E. Hoyt Burton. She married Willis H. Combs on Feb. 7, 1942, in Rossville, Ga. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1988.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (and Mark) Meadows and Willa Combs, both of California; two brothers, Gene Burton of Browning and Richard (and Nadine) Burton of North Carolina; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She taught school for 30 years, retiring in 1981, teaching grade school in Bader, Pittsfield, Murrayville and Aurora.
She was a member of Central Christian Church of Browning.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Greg Parker officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.
