REX CLEMENS COLLINS

VeteranRex Collins

Rex Clemens Collins died Jan. 26, 2009, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born April 3, 1932, in Peoria, the son of Edward Collins and Edith Clemens. He married Ann Higgins in 1960. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Theresa (and Ted) Sharpe of LaHarpe, and Carol Collins and Scott Collins, both of Macomb; six grandchildren; two step grand-children; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Collins Sherwood.

He attended Table Grove Grade School and Monmouth High School.

He was a member of Illinois National Guard and was called into active duty during the Korean Conflict.

Over the course of his life, he was a factory worker, meat cutter, steel contractor, owner and manager of farm land and owner of Collins Farm Supply in Table Grove.

He was a lifelong member of Table Grove American Legion and Vermont Masonic Lodge, and for the past 12 years, a winter Texan.

Memorial services were held Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Table Grove American Legion.
