Helen ChapmanHelen Cassady Chapman, 91, of Mount Sterling, formerly of Rushville died at 6:56 p.m. Dec. 16, 2007, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mount Sterling.

She was born May 31, 1916, in Rushville, a daughter of James and Mary Ann Long Huckabey. She married James Cassady on June 29, 1932. He preceded her in death. She later married Artie B. Chapman on Sept. 20, 1964, in Rushville. He died Aug. 28, 1982.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Robert E. Cassady; three brothers, Loren Huckabey and two in infancy; and one sister, Rose Reed.

Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn Sue (and Jerry) Tomlinson of Mount Sterling; two sons, James Jr. (and Nicky) Cassady of Rushville and Jack (and Arlene) Cassady of Versailles; one sister, Ruth Olander of Beardstown; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of First Christian Church “Disciples of Christ” of Rushville.

She worked in the housekeeping department at Culbertson Memorial Hospital, and in later years in Don’s Lemonade and Corn Dog stand.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. John Sowers officiating. Burial will be in Littleton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
