Virginia ChenowethVirginia C. Chenoweth, 89, of Macomb, formerly of Table Grove, died at 4:08 a.m. July 6, 2007, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born Dec. 29, 1917, in Hillview, the daughter of Landa and Nellie Cox Griffith. She married Melvin Chenoweth on Feb. 21, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa. He died Nov. 4, 1999.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, twins Keith and Kenneth Griffith.

Surviving are two daughters, Marscha Chenoweth of Naperville and Rita (and Richard) Lear of Riverside, Iowa; one son, Dale (and Martha) of Morton; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was a bookkeeper for Farr Farm Service Inc. for 13 years.

She was a member of Table Grove Community Church, where she taught Sunday school and was director of Bible school. She was Democratic precinct committeeman for Farmers Township, Fulton County for 30 years. She was a member of Home Extension, Table Grove American Legion Auxiliary and a 30-year member of Rebekah Lodge. She served as treasurer for the Village of Table Grove for 13 years.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Wesley-At-Home or Wesley Village Retirement Center in Macomb.
