GLORIA JEAN (EKISS) CONNOUR

Gloria Connour

Gloria Jean Connour, 79, of Ipava died at 9:21 a.m. Feb. 26, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.

She was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Moweaqua, the daughter of Ross Goltra and Erma Gertrude Walmsley Ekiss. She married Paul Heidel Connour on Feb. 1, 1948, in Springfield. He died June 6, 1979.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Ekiss.

Surviving are one daughter, Cindy (and Gordon) Tingley of Beardstown; two sons, Randy (and Connie) of Green Bay, Wis., and Marty (and Valerie) of Wayne, Mich.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was a schoolteacher at VIT School District for 25 years. After retirement, she tutored at VIT.

She was a member of Ipava United Methodist Church, where she held several offices, taught Sunday school and participated in the choir. She was active in the Fulton County Civic Singers.

Services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Ipava United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Bodamer and Pastor Mike Courson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 4-7 p.m. Thursday before the services. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her church, Paul and Jean Connour Scholarship at VIT Schools, Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or Angel Fund for Children with Cancer.
