Wayne ConradWayne Eugene Conrad, 77, of Metamora, formerly of Rushville, died at 11:05 p.m. Jan. 9, 2007, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born Nov. 18, 1929, at the Coal Creek Drainage District near Frederick, a son of Van Ray and Hildreth Adkison Conrad.

Surviving are his special friend, Sharon Bayer of Peoria; two daughters, Linda (and Gary) Brines of Rushville and Jackie (and John) Bauer of Sonora, Calif.; two sons, Michael of Oakdale, Calif., and Mark (and Cheryl) of Modesto, Calif.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one infant son, Ronald; and two brothers, Maurice and Mansel “Ray.”

He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Guthrie Pierce VFW Post #1239.

He graduated from Rushville High School and worked in retail sales all his life.

Graveside services were held Saturday in Rushville City Cemetery with Rev. Mike Courson officiating. Military services were conducted by the United States Navy and his VFW Post. Worthington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
