Virginia CorleyVirginia Anne Corley, 89, of Marseilles, formerly of Rushville, died June 22, 2006, at her home.

She was born March 9, 1917, in Moline, a daughter of Lewis and Geneva Hammond Kerr. She married Earle O. Corley on May 24, 1941, in Rushville. He died June 22, 1991.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Charles and Lewis Kerr; one sister, Betty Whalen; and one grandson.

Surviving are four sons, Charles (and Anna Marie) of Rockford, John (and Trixy) of Monticello, Robert (and Kathleen) of Philo and James (and Barbara Paynter) of Champaign; one daughter, Patricia (and Alan) Rausenberger of Carterville; one brother, John Kerr of Wilmington, Del.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan College in 1939 and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She taught school in Cropsey after graduation.

She was a member of Marseilles United Methodist Church and its Women's Club.

She was active in Community of Ottawa Women's Auxiliary, Community Hospital of Ottawa's Holiday Gifts Program for newborns, Red Cross Blood Drive, Meals on Wheels in Marseilles, school district programs and was a treasurer for Marseilles Nursing Service.

Graveside services were held Sunday at Rushville City Cemetery with Rev. Paul Arnold officiating. A memorial service was held Monday at her church. Worthington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
