REV. EDWARD S. CLAPP

Edward Clapp

Rev. Edward S. Clapp, 71, of Table Grove died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

He was born Feb. 11, 1935, in New York, N.Y., a son of Alfred C. and Catharine Shotwell Clapp. He married Elsie Smith on Oct. 2, 1982, in Table Grove. She survives.

Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Nancy Abernathy of Table Grove and Lynn Spencer of Vermont; one stepson, Greg (and Shelley) Abernathy of Vermont; three brothers, Alfred C. Clapp II of New York, John Clapp of Spring Lake Heights, N.J. and Roger Clapp of Addison, Maine; and nine stepgrandchildren.

He was a United Church of Christ minister, serving in Vermont, New York, Arizona and Illinois. He retired from Table Grove Community Church.

Services were held Monday at Avon Federated Church with Rev. Jon Prain officiating. Cremation has been accorded. Private interment of ashes was at Temple Cemetery. Kost Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Avon Federated Church or charity of the donor's choice.
