Shirley Callihan

Shirley CallihanShirley Eileen Callihan, 70, of Browning died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at Astoria Gardens in Astoria.

She was born Jan. 10, 1935, in Browning, a daughter of Lewis and Adah Belville Sherrill. She married John "Bill" Callihan on Feb. 7, 1953, in Springfield. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy (and Bob) Cutsinger of West Bloomfield, Mich.; two sons, Tim and James (and Roxanne), both of Browning; one brother, Richard (and Barbara) Sherrill of Mathews, Va.; three sisters, Sue Huston of Jacksonville, Carol (and Jeff) Jeffers of Beardstown and Merry Sherrill of Springfield; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Janet; four sisters, Barbara Wolfmiller, Karen Smith, Marilyn Baer and one infant sister; and one infant brother.

She was formerly employed at Schuyler County Home Extension, Beardstown Hospital, Beardstown Elks Club and Sky Vista Supper Club.

She served as Browning Township clerk for 20 years.

An active volunteer in her community, she was a volunteer for Meals Plus at Browning Senior Center.

She was a member of Browning Methodist Church, where services were held Sunday. Burial was in Browning Cemetery. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to her church mission fund, Browning Senior Center/Meals Plus or the American Cancer Society.
