Cecil Carroll

Rev. Cecil CarrollRev. Cecil H. Carroll, 86, of Industry, formerly of Beardstown, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Orange County, Ind., a son of Herman and Loto Whittinghill Carroll. He married Audrey Richey on Nov. 13, 1937, in Terre Haute, Ind. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Norman (and Joan) of Martinsville and Cecil Jr. (and Sharon) of Clifton; three daughters, Norma (and Richard) Krohe of Industry, Mary Gleckler of Schaumburg and Barbara Carroll of Charleston, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn of Martinsville and David (and Jeannie) of Bourbonnais; and four sisters, Louise (and Robert) Hale of Champaign, Norma (and Bill) Shotts of Pleasant Hill, Shirley (and Bill) Lowe of East LeRoy, Mich., and Ruth (and Jim) Yates of Casey.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

He was a farmer in Indiana until be began his ministry for the Church of the Nazarene in 1950. He was ordained a minister on Aug. 6, 1955, and for more than 50 years served in the following churches and towns in Illinois: Sidell, Bethel Church of the Nazarene in Arenzville, Pittsfield, Chrisman, Pana, Salem, Mansfield and Astoria Church of the Nazarene.

He served on the Illinois District Advisory Board and was the treasurer for the Nazarene World Missionary Society for 35 years.

He was a member of Salem Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem.

Services were held Tuesday at Beardstown Church of the Nazarene. Burial was in Beards-town City Cemetery. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown was in charge of arrangements.
