MARGARET L. (ABBOTT) LUCAS CHAMBERLAIN

Margaret Chamberlain

Margaret L. Chamberlain, 89, of Roseville, formerly of Rushville, died at 10:58 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at LaMoine Christian Nursing Home in Roseville.

She was born Feb. 23, 1915, in Schuyler County, a daughter of Howard and Addie Green Abbott. She married Theodore D. Lucas on July 14, 1933, in Rushville.

She later married Henry Chamberlain in 1965. He died in 1968.

She also was preceded in death by two grandsons and two sisters.

Surviving are three sons, Robert (and Roberta) Lucas of Lincoln, Neb., John (and Ellen) Lucas of Indianola, Iowa, and George (and Helen) Lucas of Camden; two daughters, Barbara (and Walter) Greene of Canton and Dorothy (and Lyle) Lambert of Gas City, Ind.; two sisters, Dorothy (and Harold) Miller of Yuma, Ariz., and Ruth Roberts of Wilmington; 16 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandson.

She worked for the Secretary of State's Office in Springfield from 1958 to 1990.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Springfield.

Services were held Tuesday at Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville with Rev. Terry Lucas officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
