Sophia Klepachivsky Chopivsky, daughter of Konstantyn, the Director of the National Bank during the Ukrainian National Republic, and Maria Arkas-Klepachivsky, died on Aug. 26, 2003, in Washington, D.C., at her daughter's residence.
She was born on June 8, 1923, in Chenstohova, Poland. As a child, she enjoyed sojourns at Ukrainian Girl Scout (Plast) camps in what is now Western Ukraine. She completed high school in Cholm, Poland, attended medical school in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and graduated from the University of Graz Medical School in Austria.
Surviving are one daughter, Lydia (and Randy); three sons, George Jr., Peter (and Ann) and Andrew; and 10 grandchildren.
Private funeral and internment services took place at the family plot in the cemetery of St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church in South Bound Brook, N.J.
