Verla Clark

Verla Holley Clark, 83, of Ipava died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born May 16, 1920, in Normal, a daughter of Robert Earl and Minnie League Holley. She married Poe L. Clark on Aug. 22, 1945, in Normal. He died in January 1970.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Robertlee Holley; and two sisters, Carol Holley and Roberta Friesner.

Surviving are one son, Poe H. of Bernadotte; one sister, Maralyn Holley of Canton; and one brother, Donald (and Michelle) Holley of Allenspark, Colo.

She was an art teacher for Canton School District 66 for 26 years, retiring in 1970. She also was a librarian at the public library in Cuba for several years.

She was a life member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and was a member of the Fulton County Retired Teachers Association.

She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston and the Canton Christian Science Society.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava. Burial was in Stites Cemetery in Bernadotte.
