SARAH E. "SALLY" (GOLDSMITH) COOPER

Sarah E. "Sally" Cooper, 86, of Canton died at 4:25 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Graham Hospital.

She was born July 15, 1916, in Table Grove, the daughter of Ethan and Magdalena Heffner Goldsmith. She married Berwyn E. Cooper on Dec. 26, 1941, in Texas. He died Oct. 10, 2002.

Surviving are one son, Larry (and Barbara) of Eugene, Calif.; two daughters, Pamela Derry of Canton and Barbara (and Joe) Pitlik of Eureka; one brother, George (and Francis) Goldsmith of Tishmingo, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Western Illinois University and Bradley University.

A member of the National Teachers Association, she taught in the Spoon River Valley school district for 35 years.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Fairview, the White Shrine in Canton and the Rebekahs in Fiatt.

She was a member of Locust Lane United Methodist Church in Canton.

Services were held Tuesday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home with Rev. Beth Nelson officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery in Fiatt.
