Lionel A. Curths, 81, of Vermont died at 5:17 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Feb. 1, 1921, in Falls City, Neb., the son of Robert and Elizabeth Hemphill Curths. He married Alice A. Gordon on Feb. 25, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo. She died Dec. 7, 1992.

Surviving are three sons, Robert of Vermont, Edward of Lake in the Hills and William of Carpentersville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of Carroll-Rankin American Legion Post 26.

He was the plant manager for the Vermont Foundry.

He was a member and past master of Vermont Lodge 116, AF&AM, and a member of Peoria Consistory, Mohammed Shrine.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Rev. David Hutton officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the memorial home, with Masonic rites by his lodge at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded.

Memorials may be made to any charity.
