LUCILE (MARKLAND) CARSON

Lucile Carson

Lucile Carson, 85, of Canton, died at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at Graham Hospital.

She was born July 25, 1911, in Astoria, the daughter of George T. and Ella M. Maxwell Markland. She married Thomas L. Carson on July 28, 1928, in Peoria. He died Jan. 31, 1988. She also was preceded in death by one granddaughter and two great-great-grandchildren.

Surviving are three sons, Jack Carson of Canton, George “Buck” Carson of Tucson, Ariz. and Buddy Carson of Lynbrook, N.Y.; two daughters, Pat Stairwalt of Canton and Judy Purtle of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

An employee of Graham Hospital for 20 years, she was a ward clerk in the emergency room, retiring in 1973. She was a member of First Baptist Church, its Outreach Circle and the Serve All Sunday School class.

Services were held Saturday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home with Rev. Larry Campbell officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
