Viviene May Combites, 81, of Adair, died at 8:35 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 1996, at her residence.
She was born May 9, 1914, in Good Hope, a daughter of Frank B. and Eva E. Charter Nelson. She married Donald D. Combites on Dec. 16, 1935, in Galesburg. He died Feb. 5, 1996. Her parents, her stepfather, three sisters, one brother, one stepsister, one stepbrother, and three grandchildren also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Phillip Combites of Bushnell and Fred Combites of Adair; five daughters, Mrs. George (Judith) Von Holt of Selma, Iowa, Mrs. Marion (Sylvia) Schoonover, Mrs. Jeff (Avis) Carter and Mary Betty Sanderson, all of Bushnell, and Deann Combites of Adair; one brother, Raymond “Abe” Nelson of Bushnell; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Rev. Terry Broady officiating. Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.
Memorials may be to Table Grove or Adair (New Salem) Rescue Squads or McDonough County Home Health Care.
